Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a Class-I officer attached to the state’s Energy Department for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 5 Lakh in return for issuing a No Objection Certificate (NOC). The action was carried out following a complaint lodged by an individual who claimed the official had demanded money to process and approve the required clearance.
Complaint Triggered ACB Investigation
According to officials, the complainant approached the ACB after being allegedly asked to pay a bribe to obtain the NOC. Acting on the complaint, the anti-corruption agency verified the allegations and organized a trap operation to catch the accused officer in the act.
Officer Caught During Trap Operation

During the operation, ACB officials reportedly apprehended the officer while allegedly accepting the bribe amount of Rs 5 Lakh. The accused, who holds a Class-I rank in the Energy Department, was subsequently taken into custody. Authorities also seized relevant evidence as part of the investigation.
Further Probe Underway
The Anti-Corruption Bureau has launched a detailed investigation to determine the full extent of the matter and examine whether any additional individuals were involved. Officials are also reviewing documents and records connected to the issuance of the NOC.
The case highlights the continued efforts of the Gujarat Anti-Corruption Bureau to crack down on corruption and misconduct within government departments. The investigation remains ongoing, and further legal action will be taken based on the findings.
