The functioning of bullet trains in Ahmedabad is expected to be a boon for commuters. It will ease commuting and will also reduce time and traffic-related hassles. Construction of bullet train routes is going on in some parts of the city, prompting the administration to take the required steps in order to ensure that construction goes on without any hindrances.
Amid such conditions, latest news is that the Girdharnagar overbridge will be closed for the commuters for a period of 23 days, owing to the bullet train construction. The overbridge will be closed from July 18 to August 10 for safety reasons, as the work of installing segments on the track pillars will be carried out during this time period. The traffic police have also issued a notification regarding this.
The Girdharnagar overbridge is one of the busiest bridges of the city, connecting some of the vital areas such as Shahibagh and Asarwa. Alternative routes have also been announced as the overbridge will remain closed.
- Commuters coming from Kalupur and Prem Darwaza will be able to go towards Civil Hospital by passing through the Idgah Circle and using the Asarwa Bridge, turning left towards Baliya Limdi crossroads.
- Commuters coming from Shahibagh and Girdharnagar will be able to go towards Civil Hospital and Asarwa by passing through the Girdharnagar Circle-Kalka Mataji Mandir, and using Baliya Limdi crossroads.
As both the alternative routes have Baliya Limdi crossroads as a common point, traffic is expected to increase there during those days.
Elsewhere, in Kalupur, renovation of the Kalupur Railway Station is going on. As a part of the project, the 40-metre stretch of road between the pillars 24 and 27, opposite the station, was to be kept closed till August 31.
Recently, as Rathyatra festivities were taking place, the construction work was put on hold and the road was opened. Due to this, the construction work has been extended till September 30; the road will be closed till then. Commuters are advised to take a note of the alternative routes to avoid unnecessary traffic issues.
