Gandhinagar Metro Now Connects to Secretariat: 7 New Stations Inaugurated, Updated Timetable Released

Gandhinagar: After an eight-month wait since the launch of Metro Rail service in Gandhinagar, Secretariat employees will finally have direct metro access near their workplace. The Metro Rail Department has announced that services will extend up to the Secretariat starting April 27.
As part of this expansion, new stations at Koteshwar Road, Vishwakarma College, Tapovan Circle, Narmada Canal, Koba Circle, Sector-10-A, and Secretariat will be opened. This extension will greatly benefit Secretariat staff and students commuting to Vishwakarma Engineering College.

Metro Service to Secretariat Commences April 27
When Metro Rail operations began in Gandhinagar in September 2024, residents welcomed the additional public transport option. However, Secretariat employees had to wait longer for connectivity closer to their offices. After eight months of work, the metro line will now extend from Sector-1 station to the Secretariat.
Seven New Stations to Begin Service
While efforts are ongoing to further extend the metro line to Mahatma Mandir, officials indicate that completion may still take about a year. Meanwhile, from April 27, services to seven new stations including Koteshwar Road, Vishwakarma College, Tapovan Circle, Narmada Canal, Koba Circle, Sector-10-A, and Secretariat will officially begin.
Metro Services Originally Launched in September 2024
Before the metro service started, residents largely relied on buses to reach destinations like Visat, Tapovan Circle, and Koteshwar Road. The addition of these seven new stations will significantly ease travel across parts of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.
Expanded Station List
Initially, 13 metro stations were operational in Gandhinagar, including GNLU, PDPU, GIFT City, Raysan, Randesan, Dholakuva Circle, Infocity, and Sector-1. From April 27, five more stations Sachivalaya, Sector-10-A, Koba Circle, Narmada Canal, and Tapovan Circle will be added, along with Koteshwar Road and Vishwakarma College in the Ahmedabad area.
