Four Social Media Influencers Arrested In Dwarka For Promoting Illegal Online Gambling Games

Dwarka: In an ongoing crackdown on illegal online gambling promotions, police in Dwarka have arrested four social media influencers for endorsing unauthorized gaming apps. The arrests come shortly after a similar case in Rajkot, where two influencers were taken into custody for promoting gambling platforms through social media.
According to the cybercrime unit, the arrested individuals, identified as Bharat Lagariya, Sumat Chavda, Deepak Santhalpar, and Kesur Bhatiya, were allegedly promoting gambling-related gaming sites such as RAJA GAME-COM, RUMMY MARZ-COM, and 102 DAYS-COM using unauthorized applications. The police have seized digital and promotional materials worth ₹2.10 lakh from the accused. The four informed the police that the promoters of the online gambling platforms approached them on Instagram and paid them Rs 8,000 to 12,000 per reel.
These influencers were reportedly encouraging young followers to sign up and play these gambling games under the guise of easy money-making opportunities. Authorities noted that such promotions contribute to the spread of gambling addiction and financial loss, especially among the youth. The agents communicated with promoters of the games on WhatsApp and messages and transferred money into their bank accounts.
The arrests were made by Jamkhambhaliya Police from different locations within the Dwarka district. Legal action has been initiated against the influencers under relevant cybercrime and gambling-related laws.
Just days earlier, cybercrime officers in Rajkot had arrested two influencers, Dharmik Jagshibhai Vagahani and Deep Goswami, for promoting illegal online gambling games. They had allegedly posted advertisements and links on social media platforms to lure users into playing games involving real money betting.
Authorities have reiterated their warning to content creators and influencers about the legal consequences of promoting unauthorized online gambling. The crackdown is part of a broader effort to curb the rising trend of digital gambling addiction and financial exploitation through misleading promotions.
