Four Month Old Baby Mauled To Death By Pet Dog In Ahmedabad Residential Complex

Ahmedabad: A horrifying incident unfolded near Hathijan Circle in Ahmedabad where a pet Rottweiler fatally attacked a four-month-old infant and injured a woman inside the Radhe Residency apartment complex. CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts reveal that the dog broke free while its owner was distracted on the phone, leading to the tragic attack.
The infant, identified as Rushika, was being carried by her maternal aunt during an evening stroll when the dog lunged at them. The Rottweiler reportedly escaped from the grip of its young owner and charged at the woman and child without warning. In the chaos, the baby slipped from her aunt’s arms and was fatally mauled by the dog.
Rushika was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared her dead upon arrival. The aunt, who also sustained bite injuries, is currently undergoing treatment. Residents of the society are outraged, stating that this is not the first time such incidents have taken place. Multiple complaints had reportedly been made against the aggressive pets. Society members have now submitted a formal application to the Vivekanandnagar Police Station, urging legal action and stricter enforcement of pet regulations.
Rushika’s maternal uncle, Raju Bhai, has demanded strict punishment for the dog’s owner, pointing out that the pet was not officially registered and that the owner’s negligence had resulted in the baby’s death. “How many more warnings did they need?” he asked.
As the community reels from the tragedy, calls for accountability grow louder. The incident has not only raised questions about pet ownership responsibilities but also highlighted the consequences of ignoring repeated safety concerns in shared residential spaces.
