Former IPL Player Shivalik Sharma Arrested From Vadodara In Rape Case

Vadodara: Shivalik Sharma, a former Ranji Trophy cricketer from Vadodara and past member of the Mumbai Indians IPL team, was arrested early Monday morning by a police team from Jodhpur’s Kudi Bhagtasni Housing Board Police Station in connection with a rape case.

The arrest took place at Sharma’s residence in Vadodara, where officers reportedly woke him from sleep before taking him into custody for further investigation. According to a formal police complaint filed by a young woman from Jodhpur, she and Shivalik were once engaged with the full consent of both families.

The complaint states that the two met in 2023 during her visit to Vadodara with friends, after which they stayed in regular contact and developed a romantic relationship. Their engagement reportedly took place in August 2023 in Jodhpur in the presence of both families.

The woman alleges that during the course of their relationship, Shivalik visited her home and forcibly had sexual relations with her against her will. She also claims he repeatedly exploited her physically under the pretense of marriage, only to later refuse to go through with the wedding.

In her complaint, the woman further accuses Sharma’s family of mistreatment. She claims they discouraged the marriage, stating that since Shivalik was now associated with the IPL, he would have better prospects and would not marry her.

Although once a part of the Mumbai Indians squad, Shivalik Sharma is not currently affiliated with any IPL team and was not selected in the 2025 season. The Jodhpur police have registered a case of rape and launched a full investigation into the matter after taking medical tests of the victim.
