Hit and run cases are increasing in the state day by day. Every now and then, incidents involving a bike or a car hitting an individual occur in the news. Buses are no exception from this category. Recently, an AMTS bus hit an old woman in Ahmedabad which resulted in her on the spot death.
The incident occurred near Thakkarnagar crossroad, where the 68-year-old woman was crossing the road when the bus came and hit her. The old woman died on the spot. As the incident took place, the bus driver stopped the bus on the side of the road. He himself called up and informed the police.
The police rushed to the spot and started investigations in the matter. The body of the old woman has been sent for post-mortem. The police have registered a case of accidental death and have detained the bus driver. He is being interrogated by the police. In addition, the police are also checking the CCTV footages of the area. Meanwhile, the deceased has not been identified yet.
This incident has raised concern about the safety of the people while crossing the road. Innocent people lose their lives or get injured even when they are simply walking on the side of the road, due to the negligence of the drivers. Rough driving of vehicles is extremely dangerous for both the driver and those who are on the road.
