Banaskantha: A horrifying double murder has rocked the village of Jasra in Lakhani Taluka, Banaskantha district. The victims have been identified as Vardhaji Chaudhari and his wife Hoshiben Chaudhari, parents of PI Ajmal Chaudhari. According to initial reports, the assailants attacked the couple during the night, fatally striking their faces with a sharp weapon.
One of the most disturbing details to emerge is that the attackers allegedly severed Hoshiben’s legs to steal the precious anklets (known locally as “kadla”) she was wearing. They are also reported to have stolen her earrings and broken open a safe inside the house.
The crime came to light early in the morning when a farmworker, who regularly assists the family, visited the home and discovered the couple’s bloodied bodies lying on a cot in the courtyard. He immediately raised the alarm, prompting local authorities to rush to the scene.
District Superintendent of Police Akshayraj Makwana confirmed the double homicide and said that forensic teams, including a dog squad and FSL experts, are investigating. He indicated that the robbery appeared premeditated and that a criminal gang might be involved. “We are pursuing multiple angles and examining the modus operandi to determine whether this was the work of an organized group,” he stated.
Maheshbhai Dave, the village head of Jasra, was among the first to reach the scene. “When I arrived around 7 a.m., I saw the victims with severe injuries, one had their face slashed, and the other’s legs had been severed. I immediately alerted the authorities, including senior police officials,” he said.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examinations, and the victims’ son, PI Ajmal Chaudhari, has arrived in the village. Police are continuing to investigate the case from all possible angles, including robbery, targeted attack, and involvement of known criminal networks.
