Elderly Man Killed On Spot After Drunk BMW Driver Rams Into Scooter In Gandhinagar

Gandhinagar: A shocking accident occurred in Gandhinagar when a speeding BMW, allegedly driven by an intoxicated man, rammed into an elderly man on a scooter, killing him instantly. The victim was flung nearly 20 feet through the air and succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

According to reports, 70-year-old Mukulraj Mohanbhai Mishra was riding his Activa scooter on Thursday morning when the incident took place near Anirdesh Society in Sargasan. While attempting to cross the road, a high-speed BMW struck him violently, sending the vehicle crashing into a tree. The collision was so intense that all four airbags in the BMW deployed. Tragically, the elderly man sustained fatal injuries and died immediately at the scene.

Bystanders quickly gathered and apprehended the BMW driver, reportedly under the heavy influence of alcohol. They allegedly confronted him physically before handing him over to the police. Eyewitnesses confirmed that the driver appeared to be completely drunk.

Inspector L.D. Odedra from the Adalaj Police Station stated that the accused has been identified as Vatsal Deepakbhai Kariya, a resident of Rajkot and a tour and travel operator by profession. He was in Gandhinagar visiting his in-laws in Sargasan. The BMW involved in the crash had no number plate, as the driver had recently applied for a custom registration number “9009” for the new vehicle. Police have initiated a medical examination to determine the driver’s level of intoxication.

Locals shared that the victim, Mukulraj, regularly took his grandchildren to school on the same scooter. Fortunately, on this particular morning, he was traveling alone, potentially preventing further loss of life. Police investigations are ongoing.
