Ahmedabad: In a new development related to the Air India Flight AI171 crash, a truck transporting the tail section debris of the aircraft collided with a roadside tree near Shahibaug Dafnala, temporarily halting traffic. The debris, part of the wreckage from the fatal crash that claimed 270 lives, was being moved under the supervision of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for investigation purposes.
According to officials, the truck itself was not damaged, but the aircraft debris mounted on it struck the tree, causing a brief delay. The incident occurred near the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) office, and the road between Dafnala and Camp Hanuman Temple was closed as a precaution.
Personnel from the police, fire brigade, and other local agencies responded swiftly, helping the driver disentangle the wreckage so the transport could continue. Traffic was restored soon after. The DGCA team is transporting the wreckage from the crash site to a secure location at the Ahmedabad airport, where a special warehouse has been set up to preserve the remains for detailed examination. The debris will remain under DGCA custody until the investigation concludes.
Sources confirmed that the wreckage is being moved to protect it from monsoon damage and to allow investigators uninterrupted access. Multiple national and international aviation agencies are currently involved in analyzing the crash. Authorities emphasized that maximum care is being taken to preserve the integrity of the wreckage, as it is critical to determining the exact cause of the crash.
