Dahod MLA Gets Married In Simple Community Wedding With Underprivileged Couples, Covers All Costs

Dahod: At a time when extravagant weddings of celebrities and politicians make headlines, Dahod MLA Kanaiyalal Kishori has set a powerful example by choosing simplicity and social responsibility. Rather than hosting a lavish celebration, Kishori tied the knot in a community wedding event alongside three underprivileged couples.

The ceremony, held in Chosala village, around 10 km from Dahod, was organized with the support of the Birsa Munda Trust and the Bhil Samaj Panch from the Panchmahal, Dahod, and Mahisagar regions. The event aimed to challenge outdated traditions and reduce the financial burden of weddings within tribal communities.

MLA Kishori not only participated in the ceremony himself but also bore the entire cost of the weddings for the three other couples. He went a step further by gifting household essentials to each bride as part of their “kanyadaan.” The initiative was rooted in the vision of promoting financial savings among tribal families, especially those from economically weaker backgrounds, and discouraging unnecessary expenses associated with weddings.

The group marriage was conducted with full traditional rituals and festive music, creating a memorable yet meaningful event. The presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, several ministers, and local leaders added to the significance of the occasion. CM Patel also praised Kishori’s humility and commitment to social progress.

The event was widely appreciated by community members, elders, and organizations working toward reform in tribal societies. By choosing this path, MLA Kishori not only celebrated his own union but also delivered a strong message about unity, simplicity, and social responsibility.
