
The Prevention of Crime Branch (PCB), near Dastan Farm on SP Ring Road, seized 18,500 bottles of foreign liquor worth Rs43 lakh from a container coming from Rajasthan. The driver of the container has been arrested.
Primary investigation revealed that a bootlegger from Rajasthan had given the container full of liquor bottles from Jaipur and had instructed to deliver it to a person in Aslali. A case has been registered by the police and further investigations are being conducted.
Apparently, the PCB staff had received information that liquor in a large quantity was on the way in a container at Dastan Char Rasta, Sardar Patel Ring Road. A watch was organized on Friday late at night, wherein a container was stopped; 597 boxes of foreign liquor were found while inspecting the container. In which, around 18,500 bottles of liquor were there.
During police interrogation, the driver revealed that a bootlegger in Udaipur named Randeep had made the container of liquor available to him from Jaipur, from another driver. The container had to be brought to Aslali.
PCB PI J.P. Jadeja said regarding the incident that the driver was instructed to reach at the truck parking lot in Aslali and give the container to another person, who was supposed to empty and return it. An investigation has been started based on mobile phone location and other information.
