Constable Caught Taking ₹1 Lakh Bribe in Navsari for Not Harassing Accused in Prohibition Case

Navsari: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Navsari has arrested a police constable from Khergam Police Station for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹1 lakh from an accused in a prohibition case. The constable reportedly demanded the money in exchange for not harassing or physically assaulting the accused during police procedures.
According to reports, a case had been registered against the accused under the Prohibition Act at Khergam Police Station. After securing anticipatory bail from the court, the accused visited the police station, where constable Divyesh Balvant Patel (32) allegedly demanded ₹1 lakh as a bribe to ensure he would not face mistreatment or harassment during the investigation.
The accused later shared the incident with a friend, who informed the Anti-Corruption Bureau. Acting on the tip-off, ACB officers laid a trap and caught the constable red-handed while accepting the bribe. Officials confirmed that the constable has been placed under arrest and an investigation is now underway to determine any possible accomplices or prior misconduct.
