CM Allocates Rs 1,242 Crore For Road Projects To Boost Connectivity Across Gujarat

Ahmedabad: In a move aimed at improving transportation for both citizens and industries, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has approved a total of Rs 1,242 crore for various road development initiatives across the state. The allocation focuses on road strengthening, resurfacing, and new construction in multiple districts to enhance ease of travel and support economic growth.

Of the total amount, Rs 975 crore has been sanctioned for the Roads and Buildings Department to carry out resurfacing and related works on 118 roads, covering a total length of approximately 735 kilometres across Gujarat.

Additionally, Rs 267 crore has been earmarked for specific road development projects in Kadi taluka of Mehsana district and the Deshalpur-Hajipir region in Kutch. Within this, Rs 171 crore will be used for four major road improvement projects in Kadi taluka. This includes Rs 27 crore for upgrading roads such as the Dangarwa-Karjisann stretch and the Kadi-Jasalpur-Mokasan-Suraj route through strengthening, resurfacing, and construction of concrete roads.

To alleviate rising traffic pressure on roads leading to the Kadi taluka headquarters, Rs 144 crore has been allotted to widen the Bhalti-Dharampur-Khavad road and the Kadi-Nani Kadi-Bawadu-Chandrasan-Khodano Dhal road. These will be expanded to widths of 7 and 10 metres, respectively.

In Kutch district, Rs 95 crore has been approved for upgrading the 32-kilometre-long Deshalpur-Hajipir state highway. The highway, which is currently 7 metres wide, will be converted into a concrete road to enhance connectivity to the pilgrimage town of Hajipir and northern Gujarat, which also faces significant traffic congestion. According to the Chief Minister’s Office, these approvals will not only improve connectivity between remote villages and taluka centres but will also accelerate development in both urban and rural areas.
