BJP MP Mansukh Vasava Lashes Out Over Party Appointments In Bharuch

Bharuch: The Bharuch unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is facing internal turbulence after newly appointed district president Prakash Modi announced organizational positions for local party units in Jhagadia and Valia. The controversy deepened when MP Mansukh Vasava publicly criticized the selections, accusing the leadership of sidelining long-time workers in favor of recent entrants from opposition parties like the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
In a strongly worded social media post, Vasava expressed his frustration over not being consulted in key decisions, warning that such moves could damage the party’s prospects in upcoming local body elections.
The MP, who represents a tribal-majority region, also raised concerns over what he called the marginalization of tribal and Patel communities. He pointed out that while a Kshatriya leader was named Taluka President in Valia, both General Secretary posts were also given to individuals from the same community, bypassing tribal candidates. A similar pattern, he alleged, occurred in Jhagadia.
Responding to the backlash, BJP district president Prakash Modi defended his choices, claiming that representatives from all communities were given space and that the appointments were made in consultation with stakeholders.
“The newly appointed office bearers have already met with me, and we’ve had detailed discussions on future strategies. I have invited all MLAs and the MP to work together for the party’s growth,” he said. However, insiders suggest that trust within the local leadership is fraying, with elected officials reluctant to coordinate.
