On October 4, 2024, Gujarat University appointed Manan Dani as the nominee member of GCCI (Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industries) in the Executive Council. Congress spokesperson Manish Doshi has complained against Manan Dani to the Education Department, stating that his appointment was not done according to the rules.
As a result, the Education Department has sought clarification regarding Manan Dani’s appointment. Apparently, Manish Doshi, in 2024, had complained to the Education Minister that various provisions have been made for the formation of the Executive Council, as per the Gujarat Public University Act 2023. Under which, there is a resolution to appoint various members.
The Congress spokesperson argued that the university authorities conveniently interpreted the resolution and appointed BJP leader Manan Dani as the representative of GCCI. The Executive Council of Gujarat University was formed on November 6, 2023, under the government’s Common Universities Act. Only 11 of the 22 members were appointed in the Council and 50% of the posts were vacant.
In 2024, the University’s Chancellor appointed 2 members using the power of his post. Manan Dani was also appointed as a member of GCCI by the Chancellor.
