“Another Round” of Drinks? Vadodara Crash Mystery Deepens with Danish Film Link

Vadodara: A tragic car crash in Vadodara, where a speeding vehicle driven by a student struck three other vehicles, resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to seven others, has taken a bizarre turn with the discovery of a potential clue linked to a Danish movie.
The prime suspect, Rakshit Chaurasia, a 23-year-old law student at MS University in Vadodara, was captured on video shortly after the horrific incident, reportedly yelling seemingly nonsensical phrases including “another round,” “Nikita,” and “Om Namah Shivay.” While social media has been abuzz with theories about the meaning of these words, particularly “another round,” with many suspecting intoxication and a desire for more drinks, a police search of his residence has unearthed a more intriguing possibility.
According to multiple news outlets, investigators found a movie poster for the Danish film “Druk,” known in English as “Another Round,” in Chaurasia’s rented apartment in Vadodara. The critically acclaimed film, which won an Oscar for Best International Feature Film, features actor Mads Mikkelsen, famous for his role as Le Chiffre in the James Bond movie “Casino Royale.”
“Another Round,” a dark comedy directed by Thomas Vinterberg, revolves around four teachers grappling with uninspired lives and apathetic students. They stumble upon a theory suggesting that humans are born with a natural deficit in blood alcohol content and decide to experiment with maintaining a slightly elevated level throughout the day, initially experiencing positive results. However, their experiment escalates, leading to negative consequences and ultimately, the death of one of them.
The discovery of the movie poster has led to speculation that Chaurasia’s cry of “another round” might be a reference to the film. Investigations have revealed that Chaurasia has a close circle of four friends: Pranshu, who was in the car with him during the crash and is currently absconding; Suresh, whose house they visited prior to the accident; and “Nikita,” a name Chaurasia repeatedly shouted after the crash.vOne theory being explored is that this group may have drawn parallels to the four friends in “Another Round” and decided to emulate their drinking experiment.
Interestingly, the movie depicts the friends establishing rules for their experiment, one of which was to avoid drinking and driving. While Chaurasia has claimed he was not under the influence at the time of the accident, a preliminary alcohol test has confirmed otherwise. Detailed test results are still awaited. Furthermore, eyewitnesses at the scene have stated that he appeared “intoxicated.”
Chaurasia has been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder following the crash, which involved the Volkswagen Virtus he was driving colliding with three other vehicles in the Karelibaug area.vThe impact tragically killed 35-year-old Hemali Patel and left her husband, Purav Patel, 40, critically injured. Their young daughter also sustained injuries. The Patel family was out with neighbors Vikas Kevlani, Jayesh, and Komal, who were on another scooter and also suffered injuries.
Vikas Kevlani, a neighbor of the Patel family, expressed his anguish and called for strict action against rash drivers, stating that mere traffic fines are insufficient. “Fine is not the solution. Only if there is strict action will they understand what they have done,” he said, emphasizing the need for justice for Hemali Patel and for the younger generation to understand the severe consequences of such actions. He vowed to fight the matter legally.
