Amit Shah To Launch Development Projects Worth Rs 1692 Crore In Ahmedabad, Pushes Cooperative Reforms

Ahmedabad: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah is on a two-day visit to Gujarat, where he is unveiling a series of major infrastructure and cooperative sector initiatives across Ahmedabad and Mehsana.

Shah began his day in Ahmedabad at a national conference organized by the Gujarat State Cooperative Federation, focusing on the role of cooperatives in building a developed India. Addressing the gathering at Science City, he urged cooperative institutions to modernize and ensure all member accounts are linked with district cooperative banks. He also called for Gujarat to take the lead in establishing India’s first Cooperative University and announced that all equipment required for the dairy sector will now be sourced through cooperative institutions, starting with Gujarat.

Later today, Shah will inaugurate the newly built overbridge at Pallav Junction on the 132-feet Ring Road in Ahmedabad, a project aimed at reducing traffic congestion in the growing urban stretch. He is also expected to lay the foundation stones for a parallel overbridge near the Chimanbhai Patel Railway Overpass and a flyover connecting CN Vidyalaya to Law Garden. Combined, these projects represent an investment of over ₹1,692 crore in Ahmedabad’s infrastructure.

In the afternoon, Shah will visit Sadra and Gozariya in Mehsana district to inaugurate multiple local development projects. He is scheduled to return to Ahmedabad in the evening, where he will inaugurate the Pallav Bridge at 5:00 PM. Following this, he will address a public gathering near Pallav Crossroads. The event will also include the launch and foundation-laying ceremonies for municipal projects worth over ₹1,600 crore, along with the draw for a new housing scheme.

Shah also announced that the year 2025 will be celebrated as the International Year of Cooperatives, with India taking a leadership role. He highlighted the importance of taking cooperative reforms to the grassroots and increasing awareness among cooperative bodies to drive meaningful change.
