Ahmedabad’s Hunger Games? City Descends into Chaos Over Free Pizza Giveaway

AHMEDABAD: A free pizza offer turned chaotic on Sunday in Prahladnagar after hundreds of people flocked to a newly opened outlet promising 1,500 complimentary pizzas to mark its grand opening.

The announcement, which quickly spread across social media, drew a massive crowd eager to grab the offer. However, the overwhelming turnout led to severe traffic congestion around the area as visitors struggled to find parking space.

Traffic police soon arrived at the scene with towing vans to manage the situation. Several vehicles that were parked illegally were removed, and owners were slapped with fines making their ‘free pizza’ outing far more expensive than expected.

Reports indicated that the outlet’s offer allowed each customer to claim only one pizza per person, but the limited stock and growing rush led to long queues and heavy crowding outside the store.

What began as a promotional celebration ended up causing gridlock and frustration, highlighting how viral marketing events can quickly spiral out of control when crowd management goes awry.
