Ahmedabad To Veraval Vande Bharat Express From May 26, Easing Travel To Somnath: Modi To Flag Off

Ahmedabad: Offering convenient transport for pilgrims and regular travellers to Somnath, the Sabarmati–Veraval Vande Bharat Express is set to commence operations from May 26. The semi-high-speed train will depart daily from Sabarmati at 5:25 am, reaching Veraval by 12:25 pm. For the return trip, it will leave Veraval at 2:40 pm and arrive in Sabarmati by 9:35 pm. The train will run every day except Thursday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the inaugural run of this service.

Covering a distance of 438 kilometres, the Vande Bharat train will complete the journey in approximately seven hours each way. En route, it will halt at Chandlodiya, Viramgam, Surendranagar, Wankaner, Rajkot, Bhaktinagar, and Junagadh stations.

This development fulfills a longstanding public demand for enhanced rail connectivity between Rajkot and Veraval, especially following the recent electrification of the route. The proposal for the new train was originally submitted to the Railway Board in 2022 and has now received formal approval.

Located on the Arabian Sea coast near Veraval, the Somnath Temple is one of the twelve revered Jyotirlingas and draws thousands of pilgrims throughout the year. The new service is also expected to benefit traders and commuters travelling between Ahmedabad and Saurashtra, bringing much-needed convenience and efficiency to the region.
