Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Police and the Crime Branch on Wednesday carried out a large-scale Operation Delta Hunt targeting people suspected to be illegal Bangladeshi nationals in different parts of the city, including Chandola, Gulabnagar and Khodiyarnagar, officials said.
According to ANI, the late-night joint operation was conducted by the Ahmedabad Police and the Crime Branch as part of an intensified drive against illegal infiltration in Gujarat.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Sharad Singhal said that nearly 290 suspects were taken into custody during the operation and were being questioned by officials.
131 Individuals Apprehended, Others Under Interrogation
As per the Crime Branch, 131 people have so far been apprehended from various locations, while around 160 others are currently undergoing detailed interrogation.
Speaking about the operation, JCP Sharad Singhal stated that the detained suspects were brought to the Crime Branch for verification and further investigation.
Officials said the crackdown was conducted simultaneously in multiple localities identified during the probe.
Gujarat Government Adopts Strict Stand
Reacting to the development, Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi said the state Home Department has adopted a strict approach against Bangladeshi nationals allegedly residing illegally in Gujarat. He informed that joint search and inspection operations were also launched in cities such as Surat, Rajkot and Vadodara.
According to ANI, the operation involved teams from the police department, Crime Branch, Special Operations Group (SOG) and other agencies. Authorities said several suspected Bangladeshi nationals were detained during the overnight searches.
Officials added that the campaign against illegal infiltration and unlawful stay in the state will continue in the coming days.
