Ahmedabad Police Constable Crashes Into Five Vehicles While Drunk: Leaves Three Injured, One Critical | Watch Video

Ahmedabad: In a shocking breach of duty, a police constable, meant to uphold law and order, was responsible for a major accident on Saturday night after allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol. The incident occurred in the Ranip area of the city, where the constable rammed his speeding WagonR into over five vehicles, leaving three people injured. One of the victims is in critical condition.

The accused, identified as Yuvrajsinh Zoravarsinh Vaghela, is posted at Ellis Bridge Police Station and resides in the Ranip police housing quarters. According to reports, Vaghela was driving recklessly near Bakramandi in Ranip late at night when he lost control of his car and crashed into multiple vehicles and roadside stalls. He then drove the car into a wall and fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle.

Locals quickly gathered and helped the injured, who were rushed to Civil Hospital for treatment. The victims have been identified as:

Sanjay Asari (37)

Kanjibhai Parmar (60)

Mumtaz Sheikh (50)

Following the incident, traffic police reached the scene and launched an investigation. A case has been registered based on a complaint filed by another vehicle owner involved in the crash.

Authorities confirmed that Vaghela’s father is also a police officer posted at Madhavpura Police Station. The vehicle number helped police trace the accused. An investigation is currently underway by the L-Division Traffic Police.

This is not an isolated incident. Just days ago, on May 24 in Vadodara, a Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) was caught driving drunk and crashing into three vehicles on the Ahmedabad-Mumbai National Highway near Chhani Bridge. That PSI was immediately suspended by the Narmada District Superintendent of Police and is now under departmental inquiry.

Incidents like these raise serious concerns about accountability and conduct within the police force, especially when those responsible for enforcing the law are seen breaking it so egregiously.
