Ahmedabad Jewellery Heist Foiled: Seven Arrested After Botched Robbery

Ahmedabad – A gang of seven would-be robbers are now in police custody after a spectacularly unsuccessful attempt to raid a jewellery store in Ahmedabad’s Navrangpura area. The quick operation by the Ahmedabad Police saw all seven suspects apprehended within hours of the incident at the Super Mall.

The drama unfolded at Palm Jewels, a jewellery store located in the mall. The group targeted store employees in the basement parking, employing a crude tactic of throwing chilli powder in their faces. Their aim was to snatch valuables and make a swift escape. However, the store’s staff reacted quickly and bravely, successfully preventing the robbers from making off with anything.

Following the attempted heist, the Navrangpura police department launched an investigation. The Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Zone-1, under the direction of Police Inspector Hiren Gadhvi, swiftly took the lead. Utilizing technical surveillance, gathering intelligence from various sources, and tapping into their network of local informants, the LCB team rapidly identified and tracked down the suspects.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Pavan Soni, Nishit Solanki, Sangramsinh Rathod, Dipak (alias Machhar) Shukla, Anil Parihar, Hitesh (alias Kallu) Maheshkar, and Raju Mishra. Police investigations revealed that the gang benefited from inside information provided by Mittul Darji, a former employee of Palm Jewels. Darji allegedly shared crucial details about the store’s financial dealings and security vulnerabilities. The robbery itself was reportedly masterminded by Pavan Soni and Nishit Solanki, with Sangramsinh Rathod responsible for recruiting additional members for the operation. The group arrived at the scene in a car, intending to overwhelm the employees and steal valuables.

While seven are in custody, police are still searching for two additional suspects, including one known as Raju, also believed to be named Suryakant Sharma. Raju is considered a key figure in planning the botched robbery and is currently on the run.

Thanks to the rapid response and efficient police work, all seven suspects were in custody just hours after the attempted robbery. Authorities have confirmed that further investigations are underway to locate the remaining suspects and to determine if this group has been involved in any other criminal activities.
