Ahmedabad Jagannath Rath Yatra Trucks Get Stuck At Jamalpur Darwaza

Ahmedabad: The 148th Jagannath Rath Yatra in Ahmedabad, one of the most prominent Rath Yatras after Puri, began today with great spiritual enthusiasm. Thousands of devotees have thronged the streets to seek blessings as the grand procession moves through the city, featuring 18 elephants, 30 traditional akhadas, and 101 elaborately decorated theme-based trucks.
However, the celebration hit a logistical snag at the historic Jamalpur Darwaza. For the first time in recent years, trucks were routed through the narrow archway of the gate rather than bypassing it from the outside, as was traditionally done. While 85 trucks managed to pass through, a few that followed ended up getting stuck due to height and width constraints.
One of the stuck trucks featured the “Vanatara” theme and got wedged tightly within the Darwaza, requiring significant effort to free it. In some cases, trucks grazed the old stone arch, and the overhanging decorations came in contact with the gate. Electric wires and decorative lighting installed on the gate had to be adjusted or removed to allow clearance. Passengers atop the trucks were seen ducking to avoid hitting the low structure.

The mismanagement caused a temporary halt in the flow of the procession and raised safety concerns. Some of the theme trucks, including those promoting messages like “Operation Sindoor” and “Organ Donation is the Greatest Donation,” were delayed during the jam.
Despite the setback, the Rath Yatra continued with its vibrant spirit, and authorities worked quickly to clear the congestion and resume the sacred journey through the city.
