Ahmedabad Crime Branch Arrests Key Accused In Double Murder Case After Twenty Three Years

The Accused Was Absconding Since 23 Years

Ahmedabad Crime Branch has arrested the key accused of the 23-year-old double murder case, from Surat. Following the arrest, the Crime Branch has given his custody to Pethapur Police. The accused was absconding in a 2002 murder case in Pethapur.

Apparently, in the year 2002, two people were stabbed to death due to money lending issues, in the Pethapur police station area of Gandhinagar. Following which, the bodies of the deceased were taken in a car to the bushes between Vavol and Uvarsad, where petrol was poured over them and thus, they were set on fire.

Pethapur police had arrested 4 accused in the case. However, one of them was declared wanted. The crime branch and police were on a search for him since then. Finally, after 23 years, the key accused was arrested from Surat by the Crime Branch team based on technical and intelligence information.

The Ahmedabad City Crime Branch has arrested Nirupam alias Bhuriya alias Munnabhai Kansagra and investigations have been started as well. Police stated that after the murder, the accused had fled from his home. He worked at different places including Chotila, Halol, Mundra, and several cities of Maharashtra. In these days, he changed his name and was living with his family in Surat. A complaint was registered under IPC sections 302, 201, 365, 34, 120 (B), and section 135 of the BP Act, in the double murder case that took place at Pethapur police station.
