Ahmedabad: A city BRTS bus rammed into the wall of the historic Astodia Gate on Saturday, leading to a battery explosion and subsequent fire. The incident occurred in the heart of Ahmedabad and has once again raised safety concerns around the city’s BRTS transport system.

The accident took place when the BRTS bus, for reasons yet unknown, veered off and climbed the divider before crashing into the side of the iconic Astodia Gate. The collision triggered an explosion in the bus’s battery compartment, resulting in thick smoke and flames.

Local residents and passersby quickly responded, helping passengers safely evacuate the bus before the fire intensified. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported. Videos and photos of the incident quickly went viral on social media, showing the bus mounted on the divider with smoke billowing from its front end. The fire department arrived at the scene shortly after being alerted and began firefighting operations to bring the blaze under control.
