Adani Group Seeks Over 91,000 sq m of Grazing Land in Gujarat, Government Confirms

On Monday, the Gujarat government acknowledged in the state assembly that the Adani Group has submitted applications to obtain over 91,000 square meters of state-owned grazing land across multiple sites in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar districts. These applications involve exchanging land for the purpose of constructing townships and establishing an economic zone. Currently, all of these requests remain under review by the government.
Shailesh Parmar, a Congress MLA, questioned the government about any outstanding applications from the Adani Group as of December 31, 2024, for acquiring state-owned grazing land and wasteland in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar districts. He also sought details regarding the specifics of these applications and their intended purposes.
Pending Land Exchange Proposals
In its response, the state government affirmed that the applications are still pending. In Ahmedabad district, the Adani Group has proposed a land swap in Khodiyar village, located in Daskroi taluka. The plan involves exchanging 33,286 square meters of land from survey number 292 for 18,718 square meters of grazing land from survey number 329 and an additional 11,129 square meters from survey number 361, totaling 29,847 square meters.
In Gandhinagar district, at Dantali village, the company has requested to exchange 63,132 square meters of grazing land from survey numbers 217, 218, 219, 222, 468, and 512 for 61,211 square meters of their privately held land at survey numbers 174, 177, 186, 228, 171, and 175.
Additionally, the state government noted that the Adani Group has applied for 202 square meters of government land in Jaspur village, Kalol, within Gandhinagar district, specifically from survey-block numbers 308 and 309.
In total, the company has filed applications to exchange 91,260 square meters of land, aimed at establishing a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Ahmedabad and developing a township in Gandhinagar.
