ACB Nabs Two Officials Taking ₹2 Lakh Bribe For Sand Permit

The Officials Were In The Industries And Mines Department

The ACB caught 2 officials of the Industries and Mines department who were taking a bribe of Rs.2 lakhs. The ACB filed a case against other three persons involved in the crime, and initiated further action. The bribe was demanded in order to grant permission to stock sand.

Apparently, the complainant had filed an online application to stock sand at the Industries and Mines department. The application was received by the accused Yuvrajsinh Dilipsinh Gohil, who is a Senior Clerk at the department. He demanded a bribe of Rs.2 lakhs for approving the complainant’s application. Since the complainant did not want to pay the bribe, he contacted the ACB and thus, a trap was laid.

Senior Clerk Yuvrajsinh Gohil had called the complainant to Premvati Restaurant, BAPS Hospital with the bribe amount. He was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe from the complainant. On the other hand, another accused had confessed to accepting bribe over mobile phone.

In a similar incident, 2 days ago, a man was caught who asked for money from a woman, living in Rajkot, in the name of a job by introducing himself as an inspector of Gandhinagar ACB, Hasmukh Patel. He had asked for a bribe of Rs.25,000 from the woman by promising her a job and making her pass the PSI exam. He was caught and handed over to the Sector-7 police as per a trap arranged by the woman and her acquaintances.
