AAP MLA Chaitar Vasava Denied Bail Again In Assault Case, Likely To Move High Court

Ahmedabad: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Chaitar Vasava continues to remain behind bars after a sessions court rejected his bail plea in connection with an assault case, commonly referred to as the “Laafa Kand” With both the lower and sessions courts refusing bail, Vasava is now expected to approach the Gujarat High Court.

The case dates back to July 5, when a heated confrontation reportedly took place between Chaitar Vasava and Sanjay Vasava, the BJP-backed president of the Taluka Panchayat, during an official meeting at the Tribal Development Department’s coordination office in Dediyapada, Narmada district. The argument allegedly turned physical, leading to the arrest of the AAP MLA.

Since his arrest, Chaitar Vasava has been held at Vadodara Central Jail. The state prosecution opposed his bail, citing previous legal cases against him, including a 2023 case filed by the Forest Department in which he was granted conditional bail. That case is still pending in an additional court.

Meanwhile, the arrest sparked tension between AAP supporters and local police, with reports of clashes outside the court premises. With bail denied once again, the legal battle is set to shift to the High Court in the coming days.
