48 Sheep and Goats Die After Lightning Strike in Surendranagar’s Muli: Heavy Loss for a Single Herdsman, Area in Mourning

Surendranagar: In Gujarat’s Surendranagar district, a lightning strike in the Muli region yesterday led to the death of 48 animals belonging to a single herdsman. The incident occurred when the livestock were grazing near the border area and sudden rainfall began accompanied by thunder and lightning. The lightning strike killed around 48 sheep and goats. Fortunately, there was no human casualty.
Authorities, including the local police station, the mamlatdar (revenue officer), the talati (village revenue official), and the village sarpanch were informed of the incident. The death of such a large number of animals from a single family within the herdsmen community has cast a pall of grief over the entire area. The local administration has initiated further procedures.
