4 Year Old Girl Dies After Electrocution From Loose Wire In Rainwater In Rajkot: Father Blames Negligence

Rajkot: In a heartbreaking incident in Rajkot’s Raiyadhar area, a 4-year-old girl lost her life after coming into contact with a loose electric wire submerged in rainwater. The child, Kinjal Dadhaniya, was walking with her mother to a relative’s house when the tragic accident occurred around 5 PM. Despite being rushed to the hospital, she was declared dead before treatment could begin.

This incident adds to a growing number of rain-related tragedies across Gujarat, where heavy monsoon showers have caused widespread waterlogging and exposed dangerous electrical hazards. The young girl reportedly stepped into a water-filled street where a live wire had come loose, resulting in a fatal electric shock.

Kinjal lived in the Raiyadhar Mafatiyapar locality with her parents. According to her father, Jivanbhai Dadhaniya, the family had been facing frequent power issues in the area, but no action was taken despite repeated complaints. In a grief-stricken statement, he said, “Someone has paid the price for someone else’s carelessness. My daughter is gone because of sheer negligence.”

He further urged authorities to remove exposed electric wires near poles to prevent similar tragedies in the future. “We have constant power cuts, but no one ever comes to fix things properly. If those wires had been taken care of earlier, my daughter would still be alive,” he said.

Following the incident, Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Ltd. (PGVCL) officials arrived at the site to carry out immediate repair work. However, the action came too late for Kinjal’s family, who were left shattered by the sudden loss of their only daughter.

As the monsoon continues to lash the region, the incident highlights the urgent need for stricter safety measures and faster responses to public infrastructure complaints.
