13-Year-Old Girl Alleges Molestation By Music Teacher At AMC School In Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: A 13-year-old student at an Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC)-run school has accused a music teacher of sexually abusing her during school hours, triggering widespread concern and an immediate investigation by authorities.
The incident allegedly occurred at an AMC school in the Jamalpur area. According to the girl’s statement, the teacher, identified as Ranchhod Rabari, would frequently call her aside during recess. On one such occasion, he reportedly took her into a classroom, made her sit on his lap, and inappropriately touched her. The girl also stated that he threatened to kill her if she disclosed the abuse.
After noticing a change in her daughter’s behavior, the girl’s mother questioned her, prompting the child to share details of the alleged abuse. The mother has since filed a police complaint at Gaekwad Haveli Police Station. The girl further revealed that the teacher had exhibited similar behavior with other students and had issued threats to silence them as well.
Following the complaint, Ranchhod Rabari was immediately suspended from his duties. Ahmedabad School Board official L.D. Desai confirmed the suspension and stated that the administration is fully cooperating with the ongoing police investigation.
Police Inspector C.V. Gosai, who is leading the investigation, stated that Rabari is visually impaired and has been employed as a music teacher for the past ten years. “Preliminary findings suggest that the teacher used the pretext of music lessons during recess to isolate and abuse the student,” Gosai said. Authorities are now probing whether additional students may have been victimized.
The case has sparked concern among parents and community members, highlighting serious lapses in safeguarding measures at educational institutions.
