Veteran comedian-actress Bindu Ghosh, passed away late on Sunday, due to prolonged illness, at the age of 76.
She had worked in several Tamil and Telugu films. She was also a dancer and choreographer.
Bindu was one of the dancers in the 1960 film Kalathur Kannamma, also starring Kamal Haasan. She was well known for her dancing skills. She debuted as an actor in the movie Kozhi Koovuthu, in 1982.
She also made her mark as an excellent comedian, a field which was dominated by only male actors at that time.
In prior interviews, Bindu had opened up about facing financial crisis and instability amid health issues. Actors from the industry had extended monetary help to her as per reports.
The last rites will take place today. Fans and members from the industry expressed their condolences on social media.
