Tanushree Dutta Alleges Ongoing Harassment in Emotional Video

Mumbai – Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta, known for sparking India’s #MeToo movement in 2018, shared a distressing video on Instagram on Tuesday, tearfully claiming she has faced relentless harassment in her own home for the past four to five years. The actress, visibly emotional, appealed for help and revealed she had contacted the police for assistance.
In the video, Dutta expressed her frustration, stating, “I’m being harassed in my own home. I just called the cops. They came and advised me to visit the police station to file a formal complaint. I’ll likely go tomorrow or the day after. I’m not well.” She attributed her deteriorating health to the prolonged stress, noting, “I’ve been harassed so much over the last few years that my health has suffered.” Dutta also mentioned that her home is in disarray, as she is unable to hire maids due to past experiences with individuals she believes were planted to steal from her.
Dutta, who gained prominence with films like Aashiq Banaya Aapne, Dhol, and Bhagam Bhag, and won the Femina Miss India Universe title in 2004, first made headlines in 2018 when she accused actor Nana Patekar of sexually harassing her during the filming of a song for the 2009 movie Horn ‘Ok’ Pleassss. She initially filed a complaint with the Cine and TV Artistes Association in 2008, but no action was taken, as it was deemed a criminal case. In 2018, her advocate, Nitin Satpute, requested narco-analysis, brain mapping, and lie detector tests for Patekar, choreographer Ganesh Acharya, producer Samee Siddiqui, and director Rakesh Sarang. However, in June 2019, the Oshiwara police station in Mumbai filed a B-Summary report, suggesting Dutta’s complaint might have been malicious or motivated by revenge, and Patekar was cleared of the charges.
