Tamannaah Bhatia Echoes Virat Kohli, Blames Instagram Algorithm for Unintended Likes

Mumbai : Actor Tamannaah Bhatia has attributed an unintended Instagram interaction to a glitch in the platform’s algorithm, mirroring a recent explanation offered by cricketer Virat Kohli. Taking to her Instagram Story on Wednesday, Bhatia expressed frustration, writing, “Can Instagram pls figure out how it likes pages on its own?” Her comment accompanied a selfie and addressed speculation surrounding her apparent endorsement of a post.

According to reports, Bhatia had liked an Instagram reel featuring Deepika Padukone, which spotlighted issues like the gender pay gap, unprofessional work environments, and misogyny. The interaction gained attention amid the ongoing controversy involving Padukone and filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga concerning the film Spirit. Bhatia’s clarification sought to dismiss assumptions about her stance, emphasizing that the like was not intentional.

This incident follows a similar situation involving Kohli, who recently faced online scrutiny after his verified Instagram account liked a post from a fan page dedicated to actress Avneet Kaur. Kohli addressed the issue on his Instagram Story, stating that the interaction was a mistake caused by the platform’s algorithm while he was clearing his feed. “I’d like to clarify that while clearing my feed, it appears the algorithm may have mistakenly registered an interaction,” he wrote, urging fans to avoid unnecessary speculation.

Both incidents highlight the challenges public figures face with social media algorithms, which can inadvertently amplify minor actions into widespread news. Bhatia, known for her role in Odela 2, and Kohli, a star cricketer, have both sought to set the record straight, redirecting focus to their professional endeavors.
