Sunny Deol Eyes Shah Rukh Khan Reunion and Highlights Salman Khan’s Bond with the Deol Family

Bollywood veteran Sunny Deol has expressed a keen interest in teaming up once again with Shah Rukh Khan, decades after their notable rift stemming from the 1993 thriller Darr. The action star reflected on their past collaboration and suggested that the evolving dynamics of the film industry could pave the way for a fresh project together.
The Darr fallout, which saw Sunny and Shah Rukh estranged for years, was rooted in creative differences during the film’s production. Despite playing the hero opposite Juhi Chawla, Sunny felt overshadowed by Shah Rukh’s portrayal of the obsessive antagonist, a role that catapulted the latter to stardom. The tension lingered, but recent interactions highlighted by Shah Rukh’s warm response to Sunny’s 2023 blockbuster Gadar 2 signal a thaw in their relationship. “I’ve only worked with Shah Rukh once, in Darr,” Sunny told . “It’d be great to collaborate again now that the industry and times have changed.”
Sunny also opened up about his deep connection with Salman Khan, a bond that predates their acting careers and extends across the Deol family. “Salman and I share a great rapport that goes back years,” he said. “There’s a lot of love there.” He revealed that Salman holds a special affection for Sunny’s father, veteran actor Dharmendra, often referring to himself as “Dharmendra ka beta” (Dharmendra’s son). “He’s very close to my dad and connects with all of us Bobby, me, and Dad,” Sunny added, underscoring the familial warmth between the two clans.
The discussion coincided with buzz around Sunny’s upcoming action flick Jaat, set to hit theaters on April 10, 2025. The film marks another chapter in his resurgence following Gadar 2’s massive success. With his sights set on both new ventures and mending old ties, Sunny Deol continues to command attention in Bollywood’s ever-shifting landscape.
