Sunny Deol snaps at paparazzi outside his home amid father Dharmendra’s health scare: ‘Sharam nahi aati’

Veteran Bollywood icon Dharmendra is back home recuperating after a prolonged hospital stay, but his son Sunny Deol has publicly vented his anger at photographers camped outside their residence, highlighting the family’s plea for space during this challenging time.

The 89-year-old actor was released from Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on Wednesday morning following more than ten days of treatment. Since his discharge, paparazzi have stationed themselves outside the Deol family’s Juhu home, prompting repeated appeals for privacy from the household.

On November 13, Sunny Deol emerged to confront the gathered media directly. With hands folded in a gesture of appeal, he questioned their persistence, stating: “Aapke ghar mein maa-baap hain, aapke ghar mein bacche hain… Sharam nahi aati?” In his evident frustration, Sunny also used an abusive term.

The incident follows an official statement from the Deol family issued on November 12, emphasizing Dharmendra’s ongoing recovery at home. It urged the media and public to avoid speculation and respect their boundaries, while expressing gratitude for the outpouring of support: “Mr Dharmendra has been discharged from the hospital and will continue his recovery at home. We kindly request the media and the public to refrain from any further speculation and to respect his and the family’s privacy during this time. We appreciate everyone’s love, prayers, and good wishes for his continued recovery, good health, and long life. Please respect him because he loves you.”

Actress and Dharmendra’s wife Hema Malini shared her relief in comments to Subhash K Jha, describing the ordeal as taxing for the entire family. “It has not been an easy time for me. Dharamji’s health is a matter of great concern for us. His children are sleepless. I can’t afford to be weak, too many responsibilities. But yes, I am happy he’s back home. We are relieved he is out of hospital. He needs to be among the people he loves. Baki toh sab oopar wale ke haath mein hai (Everything else is in the hands of the Almighty). Please pray for us.”
