Karishma Kapoor and Family Bid Emotional Farewell to Sunjay Kapur at Delhi Funeral

New Delhi: The funeral of prominent industrialist Sunjay Kapur, former husband of actress Karishma Kapoor, took place on Thursday at the Lodhi Road Cremation Ground in New Delhi. Kapur, aged 53, passed away on June 12 in England after suffering a heart attack during a polo match, reportedly triggered by accidentally swallowing a bee, though an official cause of death is yet to be confirmed.

Karishma Kapoor, accompanied by her children Samaira and Kiaan, traveled from Mumbai to Delhi to attend the final rites. Visuals from the ceremony captured an emotional Karisma comforting her children, with her son Kiaan visibly distraught. Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan, Karisma’s sister and brother-in-law, were also present, offering support during the somber proceedings, as reported by the Press Trust of India (PTI).

The Kapur family had announced the funeral arrangements in a press note released on Wednesday, signed by Sunjay’s mother, Rani Surinder Kapur, his wife Priya, and children Safira and Azarias, alongside Samaira and Kiaan. A prayer meeting is scheduled for Sunday, June 22, from 4 pm to 5 pm at the Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi to honor the late businessman.

Sunjay Kapur, chairman of Sona Comstar, a leading auto components firm, was a noted figure in both business and polo circles. His sudden passing has left a void in the industry and among those who knew him.
