Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day Surpasses $1 Billion Globally

Tom Holland’s new Spider-Man film has brought a brand new, shining day for Sony and Marvel. Within just six days of release, the movie has crossed the $1 billion mark globally. Released worldwide on July 30, the film continues to deliver outstanding numbers, adding yet another record to its name.

Starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Sadie Sink, the movie has dominated social media conversations since its release and shows no signs of slowing down at the box office.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Box Office: How Tom Holland’s Film Is Winning At The Box Office

The film officially crossed the $1 billion mark at the global box office after just six days in theatres, making it the second-fastest movie ever to reach the milestone. It still trails Avengers: Endgame, which earned a staggering $1.2 billion worldwide in its opening weekend back in 2019. Even so, these numbers come as a welcome boost for Marvel, which has faced setbacks through Phase 5, with several releases struggling or falling short of expectations.

In six days, Holland’s film has grossed $1.05 billion globally, including $407 million from the domestic market and $645.8 million from international markets.

Looking at the records the web-slinger has broken along the way, the film has become the fastest movie to earn $407 million in North America within four days of release. It has also set the record for the biggest domestic opening weekend, surpassing Avengers: Endgame’s previous mark of $360 million.

Beyond opening weekend, the film kept pulling in audiences on Monday, becoming the highest-grossing film on a Monday with $47 million — crossing the benchmark previously set by 2018’s Black Panther, which earned $40 million on a Monday.

After three earlier blockbusters, Holland’s latest solo outing has once again shown just how much audiences love the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man and his adventures across New York City. With strong word-of-mouth behind it, Peter Parker now looks set to swing past the $2 billion mark — a milestone that, if reached, would mark yet another record-breaking achievement for both Marvel and Sony.

What Is Spider-Man: Brand New Day All About?

The film begins with Peter Parker living a lonely life in New York after making the entire world — including his closest friends MJ (Zendaya) and Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon) — forget him. While he still remembers them, he struggles with being apart as they enjoy their time at MIT, the dream the three once shared together. Meanwhile, the city faces a new threat in Jean Grey (Sadie Sink), who is after V-MAX. Who is Jean Grey, and is she really the villain? You’ll have to watch the movie to find out.
