Rajpal Yadav To Stay In Tihar Jail As Delhi High Court Postpones Bail Hearing To Monday In Rs 9 Crore Case

Rajpal Yadav’s bail hearing in the Rs 9 crore cheque bounce case has drawn significant attention as the actor remains in Tihar Jail awaiting relief. The Delhi High Court is currently hearing his bail application, with his legal team seeking his release from custody.
The cheque bounce case against Rajpal Yadav stems from 2010, when he borrowed funds to produce his film Ata Pata Laapata. Following alleged defaults in repayment, the matter escalated into a prolonged legal dispute.
In April 2018, a Magistrate court found Rajpal Yadav and his wife Radha guilty in the cheque bounce case and handed him a six-month jail sentence. The Sessions Court confirmed the conviction in early 2019, prompting Yadav to file an appeal with the Delhi High Court. In June 2024, the High Court temporarily suspended his sentence and directed him to take “sincere and genuine measures” to clear the outstanding dues of nearly Rs 9 crore. However, on February 2 this year, the court issued a surrender order, observing that he had consistently failed to meet his repayment commitments.
