Veteran comic actor Rajpal Yadav is facing one of the most challenging periods of his career following his surrender to authorities at Delhi’s Tihar Jail in connection with a long-standing cheque bounce case involving a debt of approximately Rs 9 crore.
Before handing himself over, Yadav expressed deep distress in an emotional statement to the court, saying, “Sir, kya karoon? Mere paas paise nahin hain. Aur koi upaay nahin dikhta… Sir, yahan hum sab akele hain. There are no friends. I have to deal with this crisis on my own.” The case stems from financial liabilities that escalated over time, leading to the court’s directive for his surrender after rejecting pleas for further extensions.
In the wake of his imprisonment, the Bollywood fraternity has shown remarkable solidarity, stepping forward to assist the actor in settling his dues. According to Yadav’s manager, Goldie, numerous industry figures have reached out with offers of financial help. He told Screen that actors including Sonu Sood, Salman Khan, and Ajay Devgn have extended support. Goldie mentioned a recent conversation with filmmaker David Dhawan, who also pledged assistance, along with Varun Dhawan, Ratan Jain, and others who have come forward during this difficult phase. Yadav has expressed profound appreciation for the overwhelming response from his peers.
Goldie highlighted the industry’s unity, noting that “the good thing is that after his situation worsened, the industry has stood behind him like a rock—and that should be appreciated.” He added that commitments have been made, though such transactions require time to process. Emphasizing the family’s resilience, he described Rajpal as mentally strong, with the same fortitude running through his relatives.

Optimism surrounds Yadav’s situation, as a bail hearing is scheduled soon, with hopes for his release in the coming days. The manager indicated that a bail application has already been filed, and the family remains hopeful, especially with upcoming family events in February. Earlier, other personalities such as music composer Rao Inderjeet Yadav publicly pledged Rs 1.11 crore and shared bank details to encourage contributions, prompting responses including Rs 11 lakh from politician Tej Pratap Yadav, Rs 10 lakh from KRK, and Rs 11 lakh from singer Mika Singh.
The support underscores a sense of collective responsibility within the film community toward one of its own during times of hardship.
