Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra Face Rs 60 Crore Fraud Allegations

Mumbai – Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty, her husband Raj Kundra, and another individual have been named in a legal case accusing them of defrauding a Mumbai businessman of Rs 60 crore. The complaint, lodged by Deepak Kothari, director of Lotus Capital Financial Services, alleges that the couple engaged in a conspiracy to misappropriate funds through their now-defunct company, Best Deal TV Pvt. Ltd..

The allegations stem from a business deal spanning 2015 to 2023. Kothari claims he was introduced to Shetty and Kundra by Rajesh Arya, with the couple holding an 87.6% stake in Best Deal TV, a home shopping and online retail platform. Kothari alleges he invested Rs 60 crore to expand his business ventures, but the funds were misused for personal expenses by Shetty and Kundra, rather than being allocated for the intended business purposes, as per the complaint cited by Mumbai Police.

The case has been transferred to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) for investigation due to the substantial amount involved, which exceeds Rs 10 crore. This development adds to the ongoing legal challenges faced by Shetty and Kundra, who are also under scrutiny in a separate investigation by the Enforcement Directorate regarding a pornography case linked to Kundra.

The Mumbai Police have registered the case, and the EOW is now tasked with probing the allegations of cheating and financial misconduct. Neither Shetty nor Kundra has issued a public statement regarding the accusations at this time. The case underscores a significant legal battle for the high-profile couple, drawing attention to their business dealings and raising questions about financial accountability in their ventures.
