Veteran Bollywood star Madhuri Dixit makes her much-awaited return to streaming platforms with the psychological crime thriller Mrs Deshpande, premiering exclusively on Jio Hotstar.
The series launches at midnight on December 19, 2025, with all six episodes dropping at once for uninterrupted viewing. This format allows audiences to dive straight into the intense narrative featuring Dixit in a complex and shadowy lead role.
Mrs Deshpande represents Dixit’s first OTT project in three years, following her appearance in The Fame Game on streaming services in 2022. Her most recent big-screen outing was in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. In this new venture, the actress portrays a character markedly different from her familiar on-screen persona.
Directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, the show is an official adaptation of the acclaimed French miniseries La Mante, originally created by Alice Chegaray-Breugnot, Nicolas Jean, and Grégoire Demaison.
Joining Dixit on screen are Siddharth Chandekar, Priyanshu Chatterjee, and Diksha Juneja in pivotal supporting parts.

The story centers on a imprisoned serial killer, essayed by Madhuri Dixit, who becomes an unlikely ally to law enforcement. When a new murderer starts mimicking her past crimes, authorities seek her expertise. She consents to cooperate on one condition: collaborating directly with her estranged son, a police officer himself.
Reflecting on the role, Madhuri Dixit stated, “I’m excited for this one because Mrs Deshpande is a character with a lot of layers. She’s like an onion and as you go from episode to episode, you’re peeling off the onion… literally getting to know her and who she is. I think each character is unique and because Mrs Deshpande has her own story and her own thing so I had to delve into her life and delve into her psyche to create who she is.”
Backed by Applause Entertainment, the production boasts strong visuals and a compelling storyline. Promotional materials suggest a subdued yet powerful performance from Dixit, alongside a tense pursuit that keeps viewers on edge.
