Karan Johar Revives Classic Question as Salman Khan Opens Final Season of Koffee With Karan

Filmmaker Karan Johar has once again asked Salman Khan the long-running question that first made headlines in 2014: “You still a virgin?”

The actor, who had earlier said on the show that he was saving himself for marriage, responds quickly in a promo for the new episode: “Control brother, control.”

Salman appears as the first celebrity guest on the ninth and final season of the chat show. Snippets shared by Johar show the pair on the familiar couch, with the episode set to begin streaming on the Peacock Hub on JioHotstar from Wednesday.

Introducing his guest, Johar says, “A wise man once said, ‘It’s done bro’. So who better to kick off my final season than the man himself?” The line references Salman’s viral social media post from July, when he urged activist Sonam Wangchuk to end his fast during the NEET protests.

Salman, in turn, questions whether Johar is truly ending the show or using the announcement to draw celebrities for one last round of conversation. When Johar insists he is not returning, Salman replies, “Karan, tussi na jao.”

Johar notes that Salman looks more composed these days. The actor jokes that it is time he followed the advice he has long given others.

In a separate post last week, Johar reflected on the show’s long run. He recalled discussing the idea with his late father and producer Yash Johar before the latter’s death in June 2004. The first episode was shot on 16 August 2004. Looking back on eight seasons, 22 years and 161 episodes, Johar spoke of the many personal and professional moments the show had witnessed and of living with the label of “nepotism.”

Explaining his decision to end the series, he said he had reached a point where he realised all good things must come to an end, and that this would be the final season, spoken with a heavy heart.

The opening episode suggests the farewell season will continue to feature familiar faces, recurring jokes and questions that refuse to retire.
