Dino Morea Questioned Again by ED in ₹65 Crore Mithi River Desilting Fraud Case

Bollywood actor Dino Morea appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Mumbai on Thursday to address questions related to a money laundering investigation tied to an alleged ₹65 crore scam involving the desilting of the Mithi River.

Morea arrived at the ED’s Ballard Estate office around 10:30 a.m. to provide his statement. The agency is examining financial transactions that reportedly connect him to individuals previously arrested by the Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in the same case. The actor was earlier questioned by the ED on June 12, 2025, for several hours.

The investigation originates from an EOW FIR filed in May against 13 individuals, including contractors and civic officials, for irregularities in tenders issued between 2017 and 2023 for desilting the Mithi River, a critical stormwater drainage channel in Mumbai. The ED’s probe, conducted under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), has uncovered alleged fraudulent billing and misappropriation of funds meant for flood prevention.

On June 6, 2025, the ED conducted searches at over 15 locations in Mumbai and Kochi, including Morea’s Bandra residence and premises linked to his brother, Santino Morea. The agency is scrutinizing the financial dealings of the Morea brothers with companies associated with Santino, particularly their ties to Ketan Kadam, a middleman arrested alongside Jai Joshi in the scam. Kadam and Joshi allegedly rented out silt-pushing and amphibious machines to contractors involved in the desilting work.

The Mithi River desilting project, initiated after the devastating 2005 Mumbai floods, aims to prevent flooding during the monsoon season. The ED’s ongoing investigation continues to explore the roles of contractors, civic officials, and associates in the alleged financial misconduct.
