Fire Near Mumbai Home Sparks Daisy Shah’s Outrage Over Reckless Election Campaigning

Mumbai: Bollywood actor Daisy Shah has publicly condemned the irresponsible actions of election campaigners after a fire erupted near her residence in Bandra East, reportedly triggered by fireworks during political celebrations.

The incident unfolded late at night while Shah was out walking her dogs close to her home. In a video posted to her Instagram account, she described the alarming event, highlighting how those involved allegedly ignited crackers that set a house ablaze before fleeing the scene, abandoning locals to manage the aftermath.

Accompanying the footage with a pointed caption, Shah emphasized her neutrality toward political parties but urged candidates to ensure their campaign teams exercise basic judgment. “I have got nothing to do with any political party, but when you hire teams to run campaigns for your elections please make sure they have some common sense in them,” she wrote.

She noted that her building’s committee had wisely denied permission for door-to-door campaigning. Shah criticized the dangerous practice of bursting fireworks in close proximity to residential areas, describing it as utterly inappropriate and symptomatic of a broader “lack of civic sense.” Declaring the blaze no act of nature but the result of thoughtless behavior, she demanded greater accountability, stating, “It ain’t a natural calamity, it’s caused by brainless people. Take accountability, it’s high time.”

The post swiftly gained traction, with supporters praising Shah’s call for enhanced public safety amid election activities.

Speaking to NDTV, Shah reiterated her position, insisting there was no underlying political motive. “I said what I had to say already. There is no political agenda, nor am I trying to pin this on anybody. I stated what exactly happened,” she clarified.

Known for her role opposite Salman Khan in the 2014 film Jai Ho, Shah began her career as a choreographer’s assistant before transitioning to acting, with credits in Kannada cinema and recent projects like the 2023 film Mystery of the Tattoo and the 2024 web series Red Room.
