Celebrities in Legal Trouble: FIR Filed for Endorsing Gambling Platforms

According to the reports, the Telangana police have filed a First Information Report against 25 celebrities and influencers for allegedly promoting illegal batting and gambling apps through their social media platforms. The actors whose names have been come into the light of the popular ones are Rana Daggubati, Prakash Raj, Vijay Devarakonda and Lakshmi Manchu.

The FIR against the celebs and the influencers was filed at the Miyapur Police Station in Hyderabad following a petition by 32 year old businessman PM Phanindra Sarma. The complaint, lodged on March 19 this year, highlighted a disturbing trend of the celebrities and influencers promoting illegal gambling apps that violate the Public Gambling Act of 1867.

Phanindra stated that during a discussion with local youth on March 16, he learned that many individuals had been persuaded to invest their money in gambling apps, which were heavily promoted by social media influencers.

In his complaint, he claims that these celebrities are reportedly receiving substantial amounts of money to endorse various betting platforms, which encourage users to gamble their hard-earned savings.

Phanindra revealed that he was also about to invest in one of these platforms but decided against it after receiving a warning from his family about the potential financial risks involved.The police report names several celebrities and influencers who are accused of endorsing illegal gambling apps, including Rana Daggubati, Prakash Raj, Vijay Deverakonda, Lakshmi Manchu, Praneetha, Nidhi Agarwal, Ananya Nagella, Siri Hanumanthu, Sreemukhi, Varshini Sounderajan, and others.

The petition highlights that these gambling platforms are causing significant financial damage, especially to lower and middle-class families who are being enticed by the deceptive promise of easy money.
