Mumbai: Television personality Arjun Bijlani’s father-in-law, Rakesh Chandra Swami, has died at the age of 73. The actor, who was celebrating in Dubai with his wife Neha Swami and their son, immediately rushed back to Mumbai after receiving news of the family tragedy.
Emotional Funeral Procession on New Year’s Day
The final rites for Rakesh Chandra Swami took place on January 1, with family members gathering to pay their last respects. Heart-wrenching visuals from the funeral have emerged online, showing Neha Swami in a visibly distressed state. One video captures her running behind the ambulance carrying her father’s body, overcome with grief.
Arjun Bijlani was also spotted consoling their son Ayaan, holding him close as the cremation ceremony proceeded. The actor remained by his wife’s side throughout the difficult proceedings, providing support during this painful moment.
A family source speaking to Hindustan Times revealed the circumstances surrounding the sudden demise. “He was fit and fine, set to have dinner when suddenly he suffered a stroke and was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he was on a ventilator,” the insider disclosed.
A Father-Daughter Bond That Ran Deep
Arjun and Neha have consistently maintained strong ties with their extended family, frequently documenting moments from their personal lives on social media. Neha’s father featured prominently in many of these posts, reflecting the special relationship they shared. This bond had grown even stronger following the death of Neha’s mother several years earlier.
