Arijit Singh Drops Good News For Fans Weeks After Playback Retirement Announcement

Nearly a month after sending shockwaves through the Indian music industry with his retirement from playback singing, Arijit Singh has reached out to his fans with a reassuring message a substantial backlog of unreleased tracks will continue to drop throughout the year, possibly stretching into 2027.

Taking to X, Singh addressed his listeners directly, asking others to scroll past before sharing the update. “This message is just for my listeners. Please dont read and swipe right now if you are not my listener, its a humble request. Hello beautiful people! I just want to tell you all that I love you. Thank you so much for your kindness in this ruthless world,” he wrote.

He went on to confirm that while he has stopped accepting new assignments, the pipeline of pending work remains substantial. “Although I have stopped taking new assignments, the list of pending songs are not less you know. I will have to complete a lot of songs. Dont involve into explaining people, How many times will you? there are so many Unfinished songs, they are gonna keep releasing until done. May be through this whole year. may be it will touch next year too,” Singh added.

The Retirement That Shook Bollywood

In January 2026, Singh announced his exit from playback singing as part of a New Year message, writing, “I am not gonna be taking any new assignments as a playback vocalist from now on. I am calling it off. It was a wonderful journey.” He did, however, clarify that he would continue creating music independently and honour all previously signed commitments.

Among his upcoming Bollywood releases is a track from the film Ek Din, starring Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi. Veteran actor Aamir Khan had also visited Singh at his home, where the two were seen working together on the film’s title track. In a behind-the-scenes clip, Khan was heard appealing to the singer not to walk away from Hindi film playback “Aise mat kar yaar, hum logon ka kya hoga bhai?”

Singh first rose to prominence with Phir Mohabbat in 2011 and has since become one of Bollywood’s most celebrated voices, delivering chart-topping tracks including Tum Hi Ho, Apna Bana Le, Tainu Khabar Nahi, Hawayein, and Chaleya, among many others.
