A court in Hyderabad has directed Telugu film star Allu Arjun and 22 other individuals to present themselves in person on June 22 in connection with a stampede that resulted in the death of a woman during the premiere of the movie Pushpa 2 at Sandhya Theatre.
The incident took place on December 4, 2024, when enthusiastic fans crowded to catch a glimpse of the actor, leading to chaos at the venue. A 35-year-old woman lost her life in the crush, while her eight-year-old son sustained injuries. Authorities subsequently registered a case against Allu Arjun, members of his security detail, and the theatre management under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Chikkadpally police station, following a complaint from the deceased woman’s family.
Hyderabad police submitted a formal charge sheet to the court on December 24, naming a total of 23 accused persons. The theatre’s owner, partners, manager, lower-balcony supervisor, and gatekeeper figure as accused numbers one through ten, with Allu Arjun listed as accused number 11. The summons issued by the court follows the filing of this charge sheet, requiring all listed individuals to attend the proceedings.
Allu Arjun was taken into custody on December 13, 2024, shortly after the tragedy. He received interim bail from the Telangana High Court the following day and was later granted regular bail. In the aftermath of the event, the actor along with the film’s production team provided financial support to the affected family. The state government also extended assistance to them.

The case has drawn significant attention given Allu Arjun’s prominent status in the Telugu film industry and the circumstances surrounding the high-profile premiere. The upcoming court appearance on June 22 will mark an important step as proceedings advance in this matter involving crowd management responsibilities at the event.
This development underscores ongoing questions about safety protocols during large public gatherings for film promotions. The court’s directive ensures that all parties involved will have the opportunity to address the charges formally in the judicial process.
